Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan borders with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran on land, as well as with Russia and Azerbaijan in the Caspian sea. It has no access to the world ocean. almost 80% of the land territory is covered with Kara-Kum sands, one of the largest deserts in the world. Kopetdag Mountains, lying in the south of the country, are the natural border between Turkmenistan and Iran. Total square of Turkmenistan 491,2 square km. It stretches for 1100 km from west to east- from the Caspian Sea to the Amu Darya River, and for 650 km from the Uzbek border in the north to the Iranian border in the south.
Turkmenistan is rich in mineral resources. It possesses the world’s fourth- largest reserves of natural gas and substantial oil resources. Turkmenistan is also a major cotton producer, and has a growing textile industry.

Climate
The climate is sharply continental with little rainfall during summer. Summer is dry. Precipitation is low - about 240 mm a year. With over 250 days of sunshine, Turkmenistan is often called the country of eternal sunshine. Winter is mild with average temperatures below freezing for only a few days in January and February. Most rainfall occurs in March and April. Spring (April-June) and autumn (August-October) are the best seasons to visit Turkmenistan.

Currency
Turkmenistan national currency is Turkmen manat. It came into monetary circulation on the 1st November, 1993. One manat is divided into100 tenge. in 2009, there was held denomination of the national currency, as a result of which, today is issued banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 manat. coins in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50
